The town I live in has no gas stations, no shopping malls, no train or bus stations, no fast food restaurants, and no Walmart... and we live 15-20 minutes from a major US city.

Only where I live can a man who has cycled around the entire world, park his bike, while having lunch and it gets stolen. This guy cycled through poverty stricken countries, war torn countries and extreme weather and his bike gets stolen when he gets home.

Only where I live are there festivals for Collard Greens, Chitlins, Boiled Peanuts, Crawfish, Okra, and Grits. (All separate festivals)

Only where I live (like 500 feet from our house) could there be a farm owned by vegans with hundreds of pigs, goats and cows "rescued" from being eaten. EVER. One of their hogs got loose and destroyed a neighbor's garden, so he shot it and offered to split the meat with my FIL. The owners showed up, threatened to call the law and insisted the hog would not be butchered. Took it home and buried it with a funeral and everything.

Only where I live can you go to a football game and see/hear things like "Go, Cocks!" "Let's go, Cocks" "I love my Cocks" and some even worse ones.

85% of the town I live in looks just like it did 150 years ago. Including my street.

With a population of 3,200 we attract over 20,000 to our Halloween Parade.

A president and 9 Civil War generals lived in my town.

I can go to a park 8 minutes away and see three states from there, and a river that travels from almost Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

We have around 40 restaurants.

The checkout people at the Piggly Wiggly know most residents by name, as to the bank tellers.

I will never leave here.

Only where I live BBQ is smoked meat with BBQ sauce. A BBQ is the get together smoking meat with bbq sauce. Hot dogs and hamburgers are a cookout not a BBQ.

Only where I live, beans are not allowed in chili.

Dishes go in the cabinet.

Tanner, and brisket is the meat of choice, washed down with sweet tea and followed by nanner puddin'.

I'm 6th generation and I put beans in my chili. Go ahead and try to pull my Texan card. You'll draw back a bloody nub. laugh

Only where I live can you be at a bon fire and a chicken walks up makes herself comfortable under a chair. As my son said, "if you've ever partied with a chicken, you may be a Hoosier."

We have the second largest street festival (next to Mardi Gras) in the nation and the main menu item is brain sandwiches.

Well we have bears and moose (and deer) so regularly isn't even newsworthy anymore. So I'll go with only here do we have American visitors come and get excited over the mallards and merganzers that are common to us.

Only where I live might you see a group of javelinas (large wild peccaries) charge across the airport cell phone lot or be herded off the runway to allow a jet to land. Also only where I live do Mexican restaurants dry and season meat in the hot sun by placing slabs of it on the restaurant roof!

I’ll try two

Only where I live is the median house price about $1.5 million, in a suburb the name of which translates as "gully of leaches".

Perhaps that’s because …. Only where I live is the whether cold enough that you don’t get crocodiles or box jelly fish, yet warm enough to swim at the beach without a wet suit 9 months a year.

Regular jelly fish, bluebottles and sharks be damned.

annb, I DEFINITELY live by you. In the South. Which is clearly better than north or central tongue laugh

And only where I live do we NEVER pump our own gas but do pick our own strawberries 🍓, blueberries 🫐, apples🍎, peaches 🍑, and a bunch of other things.

And I can live in a quiet suburb but be at a concert in the city in 30 minutes or have my feet in the ocean 🌊 in 50.

Got a couple more.

Only where I live does the DOT (Dept of Transportation) put up signs on dirt roads informing drivers they are on a non paved road. 🙄🙄🙄. For crying out loud if you can’t tell you are not driving on pavement, perhaps you shouldn’t be driving.

And only in South Carolina could we have had a murder trial that included highlights like one of the defense team POINTING A RIFLE from evidence at the prosecution table and saying "tempting", a juror sitting with a blanket around her head for days, another juror dismissed because of discussing the case all over town, and my favorite quote of the trial, when the judge came across a tweet from one of the defense team who retweeted an article about how sloppy the police investigation of the crime was. The judge looked like he wanted to throw his shoe at the attorney. And then he said, "You and I are not Twitter friends, Mr. Griffin."

Only where I live (maybe) can I stand at my front door and actually SEE A PANTHER eating my morning barn cat food. Panthers have been spotted in my area and not many believe people when they say that -- but I KNOW what I saw. Now I know why three of my large barn cats are in hiding. Funny thing? A panther is our local high school mascot.

When you say panther, that's a cougar right? Lol

When I think panther I think black panther which is actually not a real thing. It's a leopard. Just black.

Only where I live are beaver tails tasty lol
