I always like that some small portion of my purchases went to an organization I like—. Like SI :-). Just got the notice today that Amazon is canceling the program. Bummer.
Boo Amazon.

That's so sad. Mine goes to a local cat rescue. Any amount helps them, and this makes me sad.

Yea, I got the email today.
It often didn’t add up to much on our end, but when you pool a group of people in one organization to participate, every little bit helped.

Aww, really? It was the one thing I could feel good about while giving Amazon way, way too much of my money--I was helping our local food pantry. Damn it. I wonder why they are ending it? Probably because the company is not turning enough of a profit.
Bummer.

Check out GoodShop dot com. You have to create an account, but it's free and a lot of websites participate.
Basically you create an account, and choose the charity you want money donated to. Then the next time you want to make a purchase online, you go to GoodShop, log ion (I have it set up so I'm automatically always logged on), search the website you're planning to purchase from (Macys, Costco, Staples, etc.) and then order from that website like you would normally, and a percentage of your purchase is donated to the charity/not-for-profit that you had selected.
I'm responsible for ordering all the office supplies at work, so I do this before I ever order from Staples, and each online order earns a 2.5% donation for my kid's school. In the past eight years, I've raised $700 for my kid's school this way, and it literally costs me nothing because it's office supplies my job is paying for, and it doesn't cost my job anything, either.

Wow that's hard for charities to make up a loss like that...
