Hey everyone! I don't think I've ever made it to a g2g yet, but was thinking about it and a virtual G2G sounds easily doable now that so many folks have zoom or other videoconferencing capabilities on their phones.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that orchestrating such an event is beyond my meager capabilities. I'm probably better suited for possible attendee status haha.

But I thought I'd throw the idea out there just in case its something someone else could take and run with.

Here's hoping!

This has been discussed. I believe security was the big obstacle. It may be possible to have a secure g2g, but I don't know how.

My HS class gets together via Zoom every 3 months or so, but it's set up by a guy from MIT, and security isn't an issue anyway.

We can set up the meeting to be secure enough —password protected, etc.
Give me a couple days to get a few balls I’m juggling set and then I will come back with some ideas.

We have done zoom meetings with dd's doctor amd thats secure since they have to protect patient confidentiality. It can be done. Not sure about logistics of cross border issues though. Would I be able to attend one set up in the U.S.? Or is the virtual world border free? grin

NTV, have you ever tried juggling the balls of a goat? The kids and I were just talking about goat balls when herding my group back to their pen...amazing the things the kids pick up on....like how big goat balls are. laugh

So what day of the week and time works best?
Weekend or weekday?

I can’t do anything early than 5pm PDT on weekdays so anyone on the east coast— will that work for you?

Once we have a time I can send a link thru DMs.

I thought when this came up before MH came on and squashed the idea. There was more to it, but that's all I remember about it.

Is it OK to do now?

Here's what MH said back in 2020-

In normal times, when we aren't being held hostage by a virus, we allow the organizing of G2Gs in the Fun & Games forum. However a virtual meeting takes away a lot of the responsibilities that a G2G host goes through to ensure the safety of the guests.

It is important for me to emphasize that we prioritize your security and anonymity here. We cannot allow you to openly organize a virtual meeting using SI. There are too many potential problems that could backfire and distract us from our cause.

I want to caution everyone about sharing too much information on the forums or using the private message feature. While we make every effort to safeguard the community, only you can protect your yourself on the internet.

Failure is success if we learn from it.
