Pippin reached out to us to inform us and the SI community that another SI veteran has passed. Here is part of her message to us.

Maia passed away in her sleep on Thursday morning. She was in her early 50s and it was unexpected. I know she would welcome prayers of support for her husband, and her children, grandchildren, mother and sister, all of whom are struggling in different and profound ways. If people would like to leave supportive messages for her husband, I will collect them and send them later, at a time it might be helpful to him

I want to thank Pippin for reaching out to us. I have posted this in the Wayward Forum as this was her "home". Maia has been a member here since 2005. She has touched the lives of many struggling members that have followed in her footsteps. She was always kind and compassionate in her posts. I imagine she must have been similar IRL.

She will be missed.

If you keep asking people to give you the benefit of the doubt, they will eventually start to doubt your benefit.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Maia's withdrawal survival guide is a staple thread for pining WS who want to extract themselves from limerence. Her presence will continue here even though we've lost her.

Pippin, on a personal note, I know that Maia was important to you and your own healing, and I'm sorry for your loss.

RIP Maia. Her Withdrawal guide was so helpful for me a the beginning. I went to bump it in her honour, but I see someone has already done so.

It is incredible that a stranger can touch your life so profoundly and then pass away and you are left grieving someone you never knew.

That's so sad to heat and a loss for the SI community. Maia's withdrawal survival guide still is a valuable resource. Prayer's going out to her family for support and healing.

Oh no… Maia was a force of kindness. And she was a fighter— she had so many challenges but kept meeting them head-on.
There was something about her that showed me, a BS, that some WS work hard to be better people and are successful. That helped me not harden my heart.
(There are other WS like this on SI— but for some reason Maia was the first to really illustrate that for me).
I was just thinking of her the other day and searched for her.

Pippin— please send my condolences to her family. RIP Maia.

Take a moment to think of the impact some people make.
This is the second announcement of a member that passes away. These are anonymous people, and their passing shouldn’t really impact us so much. Yet their contributions have had such an impact that many find a need to offer condolences and express their sadness. I think a life where you manage to impact others positively is a life well lived!
My thanks to Maia, and my condolences to her friends and family.

Maia was so helpful. Her survival guide I know helped many a WS. But it also helped this BS understand the mindset. She reached out privately a few times when I was struggling to understand the WS perspective. She helped me. An in the end - what a great gift she was. She helped me. She had a gift of putting it all out there and not mincing words yet balance with compassion.
I'm so very sorry to hear of her passing.

This required a little digging, but it comes from a thread another member had started a few years back. This quote was one of Maia’s with regards to DS. I felt it deserves a place here as well.

But I don't mourn like those who have no hope. Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the song without words and never stops at all. Hope says I'll see them again.
