We traded one car and detailed the other. I wasn't about to take the financial hit of selling an almost new car along with the hit of betrayal.

I'm frugal. I like to use things up, then replace. 8 years later, we gave the car we kept to our son, and it's still in use. I let the water of the detailing washed away the contamination. That's just another option for your consideration.
