We had exactly zero patients with COVID today after having > 50% positive in January. We still wear masks at work, but things have definitely calmed down in our stats recently. My husband started coughing and complaining of a sore throat 2 days ago. I told him that we have to expect to get illnesses that aren't covid, etc, etc. He came home yesterday and said he was going to take a nap before dinner. shocked I told him to test, POSITIVE!!!!

Myself and my two kids got COVID over the holidays, my husband did not for some reason. How did this happening. I AM TIRED of this. I still wear masks at work, but we had dinner plans with 2 other couples for the first time in two years this weekend. WTF!!! I am sooooooo tired. My boss is being an asshole, new employee is about to quit. JC is coming to our hospital soon and I may go balistic.

I was just reading….. Another wave is coming an omicron variant which is even more transmissible if you can believe it.

I do not work in healthcare and I’m done. I can’t imagine how any healthcare workers could cope with more coronavirus.

So sorry Covid is in your life again! I hear you, I am so weary of the worries too.

I'm in the southern US, no one is wearing masks, even at the Dr. offices. I'm scouring the news, watching the BA.2 variant of Omicron, freaking out that it is 30% more transmissible than the original Omicron and watching the case count peak shoot up across the globe. It's already the dominant strain in NY and NJ. It's coming, and nobody cares, and my booster shot is running about 40-50% effectiveness according to the latest research. I'm tired of living like a hermit, tired of being afraid that my strained immune system won't be able to handle it if I get it. Swine flu in 2010 almost did me in and I haven't missed a flu shot since. This is a whole different monster. I'm just tired of the grind, and I haven't caught it yet. Lord help me if I do...

What's JC? Is that the Joint Commission? Stress on top of stress.

We have a small gas station. Got gas our mask mandates lift a of this coming Monday but individual businesses may choose to keep thrm, individuals may weigh their own risk and keep wearing them. I asked at the gas station. Woman said she hadn't been tokd yet if they will keep masks or not but she will continue to wear one.

I'm not worried about severe illness and death for myself. I worry about LONG covid. Suffering for Yeats with no taste/smell or having horrible tastes/smells. Being unable to do basic daily activities. Nope.

I heard china is locking things down again big time. Not sure how true that is. I have been ya know busy with shit but I aldo made myself a deal to stop watching the news every hour.

@whatisloveanyway - yes, JC=Joint Commission; preparation for JC is like the ultimate word stress... on steroids.

@million pieces - is your H interested in finding out which strain he has? Might be interesting to know if you know what you and you kids already had. And yes, I'm hearing BA.2 is even more transmissible, but it's not as severe. Don't know if it also holds true that even mild cases of COVID, though, can led to severed cases of long COVID. Time will tell.

Last May I started with a new personal trainer... in his mid 30s. He'd had COVID about five months prior, before the vaccines were available to him. He said he initially recovered very nicely from the illness, but about five months ago, he started developing some weird symptoms, and has been tested for everything. It's mostly gastrointestinal issues. He's been scoped, too. They can't find anything. Whenever I ask him if he thinks it could be long-COVID, he says he doesn't think so because he felt fine after he initially recovered. I feel really bad for him. He has canceled appts. with me this week, and most likely next. He said it's really starting to take a toll on his mental health. Yes, perhaps he has something else, but for something to go on so long and have so many other issues ruled out, I'm still a bit suspicious.

It's not going to fully go away for a long time, I feel. I will continue to wear a mask. Recovering from lung cancer, I am not willing to take risks. I will continue to stay out of large crowds and wear a mask outside my home. What others do is their business but I'm protecting myself the best I can,

number4, I can't fathom the inspection issues is a post covid world, with so many staff shortages and pressures I'm hearing about from my nurse friends. Hope it goes well and you can get back to doing your job with a little less stress.

Jeannegirl, hopes for your continued healing, and stay safe. I agree with protecting ourselves. So far I have not had to deal with intolerance but I am almost expecting it this time around.

I follow several doctors on twitter who are monitoring things closely and haven't been wrong yet. There is a lot of VERY concerned chatter on the threads, with some scary news from China, HK, the UK, and concern here regarding potential impact on the those 65 and up, especially 85 and up....

Bloomberg published some CDC data showing US wastewater covid trends in an uptick in March, especially for the east coast and the great lakes areas, both where my family lives. I have begged them to stay vigilant as both locations are up 1000% over February, after plateauing after the last wave.

In other not good news, China is building more hospitals, locking down major cities, and I expect the supply chain disruptions will escalate as they ride this wave out. I worry about 3 million refuges and how impossible it will be to contain covid all over Europe too, let alone care for so many displaced.

The world seems a hot mess and I am debbie freaking downer here, sorry. I would love for all this early warning chatter to be much ado about nothing.

Not to add to the general anxiety, but a friend with info on Ukraine told me there is apparently very low vaccination for polio among that population and the war has completely screwed the vax campaign, so we could see a resurgence of that on top of everything else. FUCK.

Just got this news blip -- Makes me wonder if the NAME, BA.2 stands for Bad A** 2.

A more contagious form of the Omicron variant is spreading fast.
Right now, BA.2 makes up for nearly a quarter of new COVID-19 infections nationwide.

The variant makes up 39 percent of cases in New York and New Jersey.

China and Europe are also seeing a rise in cases of this subvariant.

Ugh. I just attended a shower. I felt pretty safe going since it was small and the covid numbers are way down in my area. However there were a couple of guests there from NJ. One hugged me.

I'm so tired of this.

In Germany this week they reported 300,000 new cases new cases. I’m with you guys I’m so over Covid. Apparently it isn’t over us. Honestly I can’t imagine how the world can cope with another wave.

I think it will always be here. Really important to keep up with boosters. 6 months in between shots MAX is what it should be… hope the policy keeps up with that before it starts getting serious again.

And it is unfortunate for me that I am over 65. And it is very unfortunate for my husband, although he just had Covid recently, that he has very compromised health issues.

But on the other side of the coin, I don’t work, and I rarely leave my house. Because I can’t see friends, I mostly just stay at home. I use Instacart for groceries, and just drive up to the window at the pharmacy to get meds.

I feel bad for all of you all that have no choice but to be out in the world. Y’all please be careful. Consider the fact that it can’t hurt you to wear your mask, even if it turns out it’s not completely necessary. But it also can very much hurt you if you don’t.

I’m in the south too, and very few people are still wearing masks now. If I leave my property, or if someone is in my yard to hand me a package and have no mask on, I always wear mine.

Covid Omicron was insane here in Jan and Feb. We have almost nil numbers now. The numbers have been lower than they have ever been since this thing started.

That said, the way most viruses, and especially Corona viruses is they become more infectious and less virulent.

Anyway that said I hope your H is doing well, and it isn't much more than a cold for him.

As this thing becomes endemic, meaning it's just going to be part of life, and like the flu it will get a few people every year, and get them badly but for the rest of us, we will either get it an do ok, or have antibodies enough so it's just a cold. YIPPEEE!!!!!

It was interesting this weekend. My whole region very few people are wearing masks at all now. The only place I have seen people wearing them consistently is Dr's Offices.
We went down South to North MS this weekend for fishing, and every store, restaurant, and bait shop we went in, most folks were wearing masks. I found it surprising, and interesting as prior in Covid going south and rural most folks weren't wearing masks.

Anyway, it's a choice at this point.
Hang in there.
