Anyone else avoid this forum when first at SI?

When I first joined SI this forum was inexplicable to me.

How could anyone joke around when my world just imploded? Who can play games when I can’t think straight for more than 4 minutes at a time? I would almost get annoyed that people were being happy and light and fun!

Now I look forward to SPF every week.

Time truly is a healer.

I felt the same

It took me over two months to come down here, and I'm glad I did. I joined at a time when this forum was much more active. There were threads that would go 50 pages in a matter of days. I still remember being able to laugh because of this forum, and how healing it felt

Now I look forward to SPF every week.

SPF is definitely a high point of the week

Me! Me! Me!!! (Waving hand) It was a while before I really paid attention enough to even notice it and when I did, I could not, for the life of me, figure out just WHY this kind of site would even have a section of the forum devoted to humor. Like you, I ventured to F&G and finally realized I could laugh here.

Now it's one of my regular haunts. The topics that really cinched it for me are G2Gs, the Christmas Card exchange and SPF. In fact, I was thinking about this and almost started a thread like this last week. Great minds think alike, BB!

Right? Fun and Games ass I thought when I first arrived on SI. As a matter of fact, the New Beginnings Forum kind of pissed me off too. New Beginnings ass I thought.

Hell - I'm sure Off Topic was equally annoying now that I think about it. What the hell other kind of "topics" could there be?

Perhaps I was a bit surly or something.

It was actually a Guide who encouraged me to post in NB when I got my pup. They said D/S was for assclowns and NB were for puppies.

You will note I'm replying to this on a Friday because I'm in here looking for those SPF gems.

Time is a healer indeed Bearly.

Totally me, BB! In fact - it is just now I am able to appreciate it. But so interesting how it goes to show the phases and the process and how necessary each forum is for wherever one is in their journey.

I too was annoyed by people in here doing lighthearted things - thought it was not the place. come to find, it's exactly the place. These are your friends, and have been, when times are dark - why would it be different when times feel a little better? I took a hiatus from here for a few months, now I'm back a bit, but I find I'm lurking totally different forums :)

When I came here and was having a particularly difficult time when I discovered a broken NC, a former guide mentioned I could probably use the break and to go check it out.

So I did, I giggled. I started my own SPF with my work colleagues and still to it today (12 years later 4 jobs later).

I also promised myself to post in OT or Fun and Games each day that I posted in another forum. It helped keep me sane and gave my brain a break.

It took me a few months to be able to come here with any regularity.

Then it was my lifeline for many months while the other forums were too much of a trigger.

Omg the turn some of these posts would take. It had been years since I had laughed so hard. It was a lifesaver!!

One post I remember vividly even though it must have been about 15 years ago (remembering it still makes me giggle) was speculating what the Queen of England carries in her handbag.
