I'm reading the book about Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus's kidnapping by Ariel Castro. The third woman, Michelle Knight, chose not to take part in writing the book.

What a sad, amazing story of survival. It's gripping. Has anyone read it?

DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

yes. What surprised me is that the women didn't get along at first. It was a difficult read. We all know and teach kids about stranger danger. But this man wasn't a stranger to these girls (or at least some of them) - he was their friend's dad, so why wouldn't they get a ride home from him?

I plan to read it, I believe Michelle Knight has written her own book. There was a movie made about her ordeal and the sick, twisted SOB.

I'm going to look for Michelle Knight's book. From what I understand, she had a much more difficult time than the other two (if you can even imagine it).

He pitted them against each other, but at some point they got to a mutual understanding. That surprised me as well, but the way it was told you could kind of understand it.

As far as getting into his car, he was tricky. Amanda thought his daughter was in the car (it was a doll that looked like a woman), and he was Gina DeJesus's best friend's dad! He was a master manipulator.

I just finished The Lost Girls, which is the account of the story by the NY Times bestselling author, John Glatt. I read it in one day.

I also took out the one that Michele Knight wrote but my son is reading it first.

I'm obsessed. I just can't wrap my brain around this.

I want to read their accounts, but I have such a visceral response to watching the interviews that I think I really have to be in a space where I can cry at a book for a few hours.

I am in awe of how they survived, and if nothing else I'd like to get the autobiographical one just to support them.

I have to say, I'm kind of sorry I read the books. At least, I should have stopped after the first one. I lost sleep the first few nights after reading Hope, and then after reading Michelle Knight's book I felt the reaction you mention. And, more lost sleep, nightmares.

And even more than ever, every time DD mentions where she's going after work, late at night, my anxiety levels go through the roof. I can visualize the torture, and it makes me so sad and sick. I have to work to block it out of my mind.

On Friday night DD mentioned she was stopping for gas. It was midnight. I asked if she could wait but she said her light was on . I had her on the phone with me while at the gas station.

I'd say, if you're going to read one, read the one by the reporter. It's more factual, but you get the sense of what the girls went through.
