I'm ready to do it--put my home on the market and relocate back closer to where I am from. This will allow me to enjoy a lower cost of living and be closer to my family's summer cottage. I've identified where I would like to be, but I am having trouble finding a realtor that I can trust.

Any good realtor tips would be appreciated.

If the area you are moving to has a subreddit on Reddit, you can ask there and likely get some good recommendations.

Rarely post but frequently lurk. Divorced, healed, and happy.

Do you know any agents in your local area that you trust? Reach out to one of them, they may have a referral they can give you.

Once you have selected a couple of candidates, google the state + "real estate commission" and you should find the state agency that licenses and regulates real estate agents. Contact the state commission and they can look the agent up and tell you how long they've been licensed and let you know if they've had complaints or disciplinary actions against them now or if there are any currently being reviewed.

Be careful when you have any initial meets do not sign any "exclusive" buyer agency agreements let them know you are currently shopping for an agent still.

Avoid any agents that use "dual agency" which means they can represent the seller and the buyer...

The Chamber of Commerce in your new location will have members who are RE agents or brokers. They probably have a public list of members with phone numbers and websites.
