I knew it was going to be expensive, but I'm just sick over it.

I got my first statement and I saw a 27.00 charge because they called me to reschedule an appointment that they canceled. I drove all the way there for that appointment, was about to get out of my car when they canceled because of a client emergency. I couldn't reschedule that very moment because I didn't have my planner, so they called later to reschedule and I got charged for it!

They tried to call my soon to be x husband 2 times. He didn't answer. Each attempt was 27.00!. I sent an email to give them an unnecessary address and I got charged!

I'm afraid to ask anything now. If I ask about any of those charges, I'll be charged for asking.

If we continue at this rate, they'll blow through my already expensive retainer.

I'm at my maximum stress level already. I'm literally nauseous. It's not just from this, it's everything that keeps happening. It feels like a pile on.

I can't see my way to the other side. I know I'm in the thick of it right now and it'll get better, but it's so hard.

It is absurd! Every question, every email has a cost attached to it.

We are trying mediation to alleviate some of the cost while both having attorneys.

I am not sure how you can get around it and you need advice now more than ever. Just letting you know you are not alone!

Typically, you get charged in 15-minute increments. So, the person who schedules is charging you at a 108 hour rate. If questions or contact aren't time critical stack them up and do it together. Like if you had given them the address and rescheduled at the same time that would probably be $27 instead of $54. That's really the only thing you can do to reduce the bleed besides doing some of the work yourself if possible. There's times like calling your stbx where it's unavoidable.

If I ask about any of those charges, I'll be charged for asking.

Almost assuredly you will be billed for that. Ask when you are in a meeting or speaking with them for something else.

I can't wrap my head around them charging you to reschedule an appointment they cancelled. I would be tempted to tell them to take that off the bill and not to bill you for discussing it. There is no way you should be charged for them inconveniencing you by cancelling at the last minute.
