Recent good buys

I don't usually buy stuff for myself, but I got two goodies this week.

First was a Cd (yes, people DO still buy them! I can't 'do' the whole music on phone thing). I've been listening to it all week in car (mostly because Stern's on another vacation )

Second is a set of 3 flameless candles. They're vanilla scented, battery operated and they glow in different colors...plus there's a remote! I just got those tonight for $10 on sale. At first I thought they were cool because of all the neat stuff they 'do' and were on sale. Then I talked to my sister and she was sorta like, "Um, WTH do you need them for?" and I realized - not a thing! They looked fun in the store. They WILL come in handy at some point and soon!

You guys have any good recent buys?!

Unusual New Year Tradiions

Happy belated New Years y'all!

Does anyone else have 'different' New Years traditions?

Outside of the normal celebrating (kisses at midnight, fireworks, etc) something I have done for last several years is that I buy & install new toilet seats.

Not even sure how it started, but it's something I do. LOL!

S.NL - Back Home Baller

Did anyone catch this SNL Digital short? It was hilarz!

I'm too old to watch SNL in real time, but I saw it Sunday morning and I am also too old to know how to post a link to it from here...*sad* LOL!

Google it, it's worth it.

On Tomorrow

Is this a regional thing?

Here's an example, "I will call you on tomorrow".

I would just say, "I will call you tomorrow".

Someone at work says this and I guess I've not heard it much before.

Work: worst call out excuse

Most of use have probably blown off work once and used a lame excuse (I usually cite something general like tummy issue or bad cramps).

What was the lamest you used or heard?

I work with a girl who called out last week and said that she shit her pants on the way in and needed to work from home (but was never available during that day). I found that pretty ballsy.

I have a relative who had someone call out because their front door was stolen during the night!

Christmas!

Why is it already like everywhere already?!

Aren't we supposed to wait until Saturday, 11/01?!

Retailers: No one will forget to shop for Christmas, you CAN wait until 11/01!!

Office Costume Parties

I'm curious about how people feel about dressing up on Halloween if it's a work day?

I LOVE Halloween, but I have only ever dressed up twice in my 20+ yrs of working. And I only did it those times because it was pretty much mandatory (I worked at a big company and our large department had 'unit costume contest'. Had I not gone along, I would've been the office jerk). I'll admit it was fun and our unit even won one year, but I don't really love the idea of dressing up for work.

I think it's more the "out of office experience" that turns me off (driving, dressed up, on the insterstate. Then maybe having to get gas or dropping kids off in carpool. Strolling into the building where mostly no one else is dressed up makes me really self conscious!)

How do others feel about it?

!)

A.HS Freak Show

I looked and didn't see a post.

Two episodes in; I am digging this season so far!

I could do without some of the 'sexy' stuff but I don't think it overshadows the good stuff, i.e. the drama and real creepy stuff.

I watched the first two seasons, but not the last one with the witches. I'm told I need to check that out though.

I think it's cool they use a lot of the same cast members but it's not a contiual story from one season to next.
