My GP referred me to cardiology because I have been having increased episodes of tachycardia.

I went to the appointment. I had an EKG which was normal and had a monitor put on for two weeks. I saw the cardiologist and we discussed the episodes I have and also my high cholesterol.

He never listened to my heart. Maybe he saw everything he needed to see on the EKG but it seemed a little odd to me. I would think he would still want to listen.

What do you all think?

I have a return appointment in six weeks. Other than that I liked him.

Depends.... I mean if you are being evaluated for tachycardia, and you aren't having episodes of Afib per the monitor, then the benefit of listening closely really isn't much. Now if you were having afib then they would probably listen more closely, but again, the additional testing that would follow like an echo or a stress test would tell a heck of a lot more than listening.
There is not a lot you can tell when listening to your heart unless you really spend a lot of time doing it and listening over the 4 chambers/valves, and even then it's really heard to hear unusual things unless a valve is just completely flopping, not functioning normally.

Tush, always knows her stuff. Honestly, as a lament which 2 family members with Tachycardia I am kind of shocked not even a halter monitor is being done, was a first step with my Dad and Daughter. My neighbor had a cardio appointment in the am and that afternoon had event where he flatlined. Not mentioning to scare you. My understanding is that they can’t always tell without an event or a stress or echo? Tush any thoughts?

After my neighbors event I paid more attention to my DD and Dad’s situation. Neighbor had cpr for 20 minutes as he was under a house working. He is doing well.

Thank you. That does make me feel better. I don't like that he put in his notes that he did do an exam. I assume he copy pasted or something like that. That seems like lying to me.

The last time they had me wear a monitor they told me everything was normal. The cardiologist said there were two possible things that were problematic from that report. Every Dr for every issue tells me something different. I'm feeling a little frustrated and confused.

Oh I know all about that! Drives one batty when one doc says one thing and another says the opposite. Happened all the time with dd.

Little M went to a new pediatrician. He heard a murmur. Sent her to a pediatric cardiologist. First thing she did was listen to her heart and instant diagnosis but still did a long detailed ultrasound.
